Is a system of movement education that is effective at treating a broad range of conditions using gentle guided movement and directed attention.

  • Based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an understanding of learning and human development.

  • By applying the principles of this unique the method, you will improve your self awareness in sensing, moving, thinking, and feeling to support more efficient participation in daily activities.

  • Small, gentle movements guide the process to effectively change inefficient muscular habits and tensions, resulting in improvements in how you function in all aspects of your daily living.

  • It is practiced in two forms -Functional Integration and Awareness Through Movement Classes.

 Functional Integration (FI)

  • This individualized hands-on treatment uses gentle movement and touch to improve flexibility, coordination, and your ability to perform daily tasks with greater ease and enjoyment.

  • This process enhances the body-mind connection by stimulating new nervous system pathways and connections to support improved function in thinking and moving.

Awareness Through Movement®(ATM)

  • These lessons, most commonly taught in groups, utilize slow, mindful movement sequences that are often related to developmental processes and enable you to improve your ability to move with greater ease.

  • These lessons are often based on functional movements of daily life such as walking, sitting, lifting, and improving one’s posture.

  • Often after a lesson, participants report feeling improved balance, greater flexibility, and improved ease and efficiency in movement.
